Benefits of Crate Training a Beagle
I want to clarify that crate training is not cruel for your Beagle – or for any dog. There are a lot of benefits to crate training and veterinarians around the world would agree.
For starters, dog crates are probably the most effective way of housetraining your Beagle. By nature, dogs do not soil the place they sleep. So, they’ll try their best to keep their dog crate as clean as possible.
It teaches your puppy how to control their bladder and bowel. Just make sure you quickly clean up if they have an accident.
Crate training can also keep your Beagle’s teething in check. As a puppy, they’ll want to gnaw on everything. Keeping them in a crate when they go on their teething rampages can teach them to limit teething to his or her own property. This means everything (chew toys) in the cage or the cage itself.

Size of a Beagle
Beagles are borderline small dog breeds, however, they’re mainly classified as medium-sized dogs. With that said, a full-grown purebred male Beagle will be around 14 to 16 inches in height. For a purebred female Beagle, were looking at around 13 to 15 inches in height.
In terms of weight, a male Beagle can consistently be in the 22 to 24 pounds (10 – 11 kg) range. On the other hand, the female Beagle will be slightly smaller – usually around 20 to 22 pounds (9 – 10 kg).

Keep in mind, Beagles reach their adult size at around 7 months, so always buy a dog crate that will fit their full-grown size.

Beagles aren’t weak, but they aren’t the strongest, most aggressive dogs either. For this reason, the iCrate’s secured slide-bolt latches are perfect for securing your Beagle. No matter how great of an escape artist, they aren’t getting out of this one.

What’s unique about the AmazonBasics crate is their optional double doors. Sure, it’s slightly cheaper for a single door dog crate, but I usually recommend going for the double doors.
It’ll make it easier getting your Beagle, toys, water bowls or whatever else out of the crate. But because the recommended dog crate for a Beagle is relatively small, you may not need double doors.
A divider panel is always useful if you plan to purchase a dog crate while your Beagle is still a small puppy. Having a panel lets you control the amount of space a smaller dog would need. Having too big of a crate may cause some anxiety in some dogs.
Similar to the iCrate, the AmazonBasics crate makes it super easy to transport or store in a closet. It’ll only take a few seconds to collapse the crate into a much more efficient size.
Because we recommend the 30 inch crate, the built-in handles will be fairly useful. If you don’t want to go through the extra work of folding up the crate, just put it up from the top.
The removable plastic tray is perfect while housetraining your Beagle. It’s almost inevitable they’ll have accidents in the crate. Just slide out the pan, wash it down and slide it back in. Easy!
The Cons
There are very few cons about the AmazonBasics dog crate. Like with the iCrate, the wires on the frame are a bit thin. However, they’re still more than enough to safely secure your Beagle.
If your Beagle is a heavy chewer, which most aren’t, then it could end up being a problem – though still not likely. But make sure you’re aware of your Beagle while in this crate.

What I like a lot about the most about the ProValu dog crate is their unique locking mechanism to secure your Beagle. It uses a patented 5-point locking door system to hold your little escape artist.
Yes, it may be a little annoying to secure 5 locks everything you need to close the door. However, it’s probably worth the comfort of knowing your Beagle won’t break loose.
The construction of the frame is a bit different than the others. It’s constructed with a durable rust-resistant e-coat finish which will probably extend the life of your dog crate.
It comes standard with double doors, which is always a nice feature to have even if you don’t need to utilize it all the time.
You’ll be able to quickly collapse this dog crate, which folds flat to about two inches thick. Not only does it make it convenient to travel with, but also to store away in that small closet of yours.
There’s a removable pan with the ProValu crate, making it extremely easy to clean up after your Beagle. Not an innovative feature, but certainly a essential one.
The Cons
Though the frame is rust-resistant and durable, I’m not sure the e-coat finish is a great idea for a Beagle that loves to chew the wires of the frame. And if your Beagle isn’t one of them, then this shouldn’t be a problem.
Of course, I have to mention that the frames aren’t constructed as sturdy as heavy duty options, but should be fine for your Beagle. If you have a Beagle mix, then a heavy duty crate may be a good idea.

The Cons
The biggest disadvantage of the New World crate is the lack of divider. There isn’t even an option for it. In fact, you’ll have to buy it from their competitor – Midwest Homes.
And like with other non-heavy duty crates, the wiring on this frame is not comparable to the heavy duty counterparts. Still, it’ll be fine for your Beagle. Just know that putting a Pit bull in this crate may not be a good idea.
