Pomeranians may be small in size, but they’re full of personality and charm. While they were once larger sled-pulling dogs from the arctic, Pomeranians we’re re-developed and downsized (twice!) to become some of the world’s best companion lap dogs.
The modern Pomeranian is such a great family dog that they’re one of the top 25 most popular breeds in America. And since Pomeranians are so prevalant, they’ve become one of the most common candidates for designer dogs.
Pomeranian mixes are far more common than you think. In fact, our family had a Pomeranian, though we had always suspected that she was mixed with the Chow Chow. And while the possibilities are certainly endless, here are our favorite picks for the best Pomeranian mixes.

Best Pomeranian Mixes
Pomeranians have a distinct appearance, as seen with most spitz-type dog breeds. As a result, many of the Pom mixes also show these physical characteristics that have been around for thousands of years.
1. Aussie Pom
Parents: Aussie x Pomeranian mix

Aussie Poms are the ultimate designer dogs that combine exuberance, work ethic, fun-loving energy and a friendly attitude. They’re part Pomeranian and part Australian Shepherd, which surprisingly balances each other out quite well.
And despite the “designer dog” label, they’re far more common than you think! If you have your eyes set on a Aussie Pom, always check your local animal shelter first. Plenty of these Pomeranian mixes found in shelters need a forever home.
Both parent breeds are well-known and popular dogs. However, the temperament and looks can vary a lot. Depending on which parents they take more from, they can sport the beautiful merle coat, but with a bit more fluff. Either way, they’ll have a lot of energy!

2. Paperanian
Parents: Papillon x Pomeranian mix

Being a hybrid of two energetic dog breeds, the Paperanian is without doubt, going to be the same. The Paperanian combines the cleverness and intelligence of the Papillon with the fun-loving temperament of the Pomeranian.
Because both the Papillon and Pomeranian are exceptional lap dogs, you can expect this Pom mix to be the perfect family companion. They’re affectionate, good-natured and love to be around people – even with kids and seniors.
Unfortunately, the Paperanian isn’t a common hybrid. There’s very little information on the personalities these dogs. However, both parent breeds are known to have adaptable temperaments that matches well with any family, in most living situations.
3. Pom Kee
Parents: Keeshond x Pomeranian mix

The Pom Kee is a hybrid that combines two fluffy delightful and playful dog breeds: the Pomeranian and the Keeshond. In terms of jobs and roles in society, the two are very different. But even so, the breeds can mesh well when put together.
On one hand, you have the Keeshond – a fierce hunter bred for tracking and chasing down small game. On the other hand, Pomeranians were bred for pulling sleds among other various tasks in the snow. But despite the differences, both parents are sweet and gentle dogs.
Both parent breeds are spitz dogs, meaning they will look very similar. By crossbreeding the two, you’ll likely get a hybrid that doesn’t look too different from either parent. But even so, there will be some slight variations in coat colors.
4. Pomerat
Parents: Rat Terrier x Pomeranian mix

One of the most unusual crosses, the Pomerat is a designer dog that combines the Rat Terrier with the Pomeranian. You can expect some toughness from the terrier side, but a much gentler and sweetness from the Pom side.
The crossbreed gives you a lively, joyful and affectionate small dog that tend to do well in families with older children. They love nothing more to play with their “pack members.” Plus, they can play for hours at a time (they’ll tire out your kids!).
But don’t underestimate these dogs because of their small size. The Pomerat is a Pomeranian mix that has a big personality. Plus, they’re fearless dogs (thanks to the Rat Terrier side) and will try to establish pack dominance early on.

5. Cockeranian
Parents: Cocker Spaniel x Pomeranian mix

Cockeranians are hybrid dogs resulting from the crossbreeding of the Pomeranian with a Cocker Spaniel. Both parents have similar qualities, including the playful temperaments and the unwavering loyalty. So, the hybrid is a fairly similar dog.
It’s easy to see why the Cockeranian is so popular. With their stunning good looks and the charming personalities, these dogs know they’re amazing dogs. For most owners, it’s just too hard to resist the exotic and adorable Cockeranian.
When it comes to displays of affection, there are few mixes that can compare. These dogs are all about devotion and they’ll show it with their actions. Their appearances will vary but they’re almost always going to be adorable and cute.
6. Pomasnauze
Parents: Schnauzer x Pomeranian mix

The Pomasnauze gives this Pomeranian mix a bold and lively edge not seen in purebred Poms. These free-spirited and fun-loving dogs have a feisty personality that really makes them “small dogs with big personalities.”
Most Pomasnauzes are crossbred with the Miniature Schnauzer. Though uncommon, it’s possible for some breeders to use the standard variation. For this reason, the size of this mix has been known to vary quite a lot.
Other than the appearance, both parent breeds are very similar dogs. And while both parents are very popular in America, the combination isn’t as prevalent in the designer dog community. However, make sure to check your local shelter first.
7. Ewokian
Parents: Havanese x Pomeranian mix

With both the Havanese and Pomeranian being popular toy dogs, this hybrid was bound to happen. As such, both of the parent breeds have similar qualities that make the Ewokian “consistent” as far as hybrid dogs go.
For example, both parents are very social dogs. In fact, they can’t stand being alone for long periods of time. The Ewokian is very much the same. We wouldn’t recommend these dogs for owners who are busy all the time. You’ll need to spend time with them!
You may be wondering why this Pom mix isn’t called something like the “Pomeranese” or “Havaranian.” They’re called the Ewokian because they have an uncanny resemblance to the Ewoks from Star Wars. A huge plus for Star Wars fans.
8. Chinaranian
Parents: Japanese Chin x Pomeranian mix

The Chinaranian is a match made in heaven! Crossbreeding the Japanese Chin with the Pomeranian will give you a beautiful and loving companion with a strong eagerness to please their humans. In fact, these dogs can’t stand being alone!
Chinaranians are amusing and entertaining dogs. Largely thanks to the Japanese Chin side, they’re going to want to learn and “perform” tricks for an audience. These sociable and extroverted dogs absolutely love being the center of attention.
However, the Chinaranians need a lot of love and affection reciprocated back at them. That being said, they’re not ideal for busy owners with little time to commit to their dogs. And if you have children, keep in mind the Chinaranian is a fragile small dog.
9. Pineranian
Parents: Mini Pinscher x Pomeranian mix

Both parent breeds of the Pineranian are equally small. So, expect this Pomeranian and Mini Pinscher mix to be somewhere around 10 pounds and 10 inches tall. And although they may be small dogs, their attitudes are anything but.
The thing is, Pineranians don’t know they’re small. Their sassy personalities make them seem like brave little dogs in the face of a much bigger threat. That said, these dogs won’t tolerate rough play from kids and often snap back if picked on.
On the other hand, they’re extremely intelligent and bright dogs. Learning commands and tricks will be a breeze for them. Plus, they can become surprisingly great workout buddies too. Just keep an eye out and don’t overwork them!
10. Pomerke
Parents: Schipperke x Pomeranian mix

Also called the Schip-A-Pom, the Pomerke is the stunning hybrid of the Schipperke and the Pomeranian. Both parent dogs are companion breeds with an admirable curiosity for life. However, the curiosity often leads them to trouble.
A little mischievous but always outgoing, the Pomerke is the perfect companion for all. They get along with everyone and it’s nearly impossible not to instantly be friends. The only exception may be young kids, who like to tease these small dogs.
Because both parents are known for their fluffy long coats, the Pomerke will have the same. It’s likely they will inherit the beautiful black color from the Schipperke side. Just make sure you have time for grooming – they need it!
11. Pomimo
Parents: American Eskimo x Pomeranian mix

There are few Pomeranian mixes as happy-go-lucky as the charming Pomimo. This ultimate spitz hybrid combines the American Eskimo dog with the Pomeranian, resulting in one of the most entertaining and cheerful toy companions.
Despite their small size, the Pomimo can be a formidable watch dog. They’re always alert and won’t be afraid to let out a few sharp barks at the sight or sound of strangers. Just know they do this because of their protective instincts for the family.
Although they love lounging on your laps, they also enjoy outdoor activities. They’re small but have an unlimited amount of energy that needs adequate physical activity to match. And with proper socializing, they get along with all humans and dogs.
12. Pomston
Parents: Boston Terrier x Pomeranian mix

One of my favorite Pomeranian mixes, the Pomston crosses the Boston Terrier with the Pomeranian. This results in a feisty, yet intelligent dog that also has a humorous and goofy side to them. They have a mild personality that meshes well with most owners.
These dogs are all about fun. They’re super-friendly and love to be around all humans. In fact, they are the best versions of themselves when entertaining their owners. As long as you can keep up with them, they’re appealing toy dogs.
What makes the Pomston special is their adaptability. No matter where you live or what your situation is, all these dogs need is love to thrive. They’re great apartment dogs and can learn to be excellent with all people and other pets.
13. Dameranian
Parents: Dachshund x Pomeranian mix

The Dameranian is an interesting mix, combining the wolf-like characteristics of the Pomeranian with the hotdog shape of the Dachshund. And while the physical traits of the Dameranian may be up in the air, you can always count on them having short legs.
However, when it comes to coat, the Dameranian varies a lot. The cause for variation is largely due to the Dachshund’s numerous coats. They have a short-haired, long-haired and wire-haired coat with tons of colors and markings.
Dameranians are very friendly and playful dogs. Plus, they get along with great other dogs and people. But what’s most have impressive is their loyalty to the family. With a bit of commitment and love, the Dameranian will be an outstanding choice.

14. La Pom
Parents: Lhasa Apso x Pomeranian mix

The La Pom is as exotic as the name sounds. These special fluffy mixes are the result of the crossing the vigilant Lhasa Apso with the cheerful Pomeranian. Not surprisingly, the two parents balance each other out, thus giving us a great companion.
Often described as “small in size but big in spirit,” the La Pom weighs no more than 15 pounds. Given the Lhasa Apso parent, they’re remarkable watchdogs that’ll alert you at the sign of any intruders. This was the Lhasa’s original job, after all.
The Pomeranian parent gives this mix a willingness to learn and perform tricks, which may be a plus for families with kids. They also do well in agility trials. But what makes these dogs amazing is their ability to read human emotions and adapt.
15. Jackaranian
Parents: Jack Russell x Pomeranian mix

The Jackaranian is the unique combination of the Jack Russell Terrier and the Pomeranian. As expected, a Jackaranian is always bouncing around with their “unlimited” amount of energy and excitement. There will never be a dull moment with a Jackaranian.
Though hybrids can vary in personality, the Jackaranian will usually be bold and spirited, but also inherit the infamous stubbornness from the terrier side. However, the positive attitude and cheerfulness of a Pomeranian may also be there.
This Pomeranian mix is not ideal for first-time dog owners. Thanks to their strong will and independent mindset, they can become quite the challenge to train. In addition, they’re not the most ideal playmates for small children.
16. Bichonaranian
Parents: Bichon Frise x Pomeranian mix

The Bichonaranian is the beautiful cross between the elegant Bichon Frise and the joyful Pomeranian. Despite the popularity of the parents, they’re relatively new to the world of designer dogs, though they have picked up steam in the past few years.
Like with both parents, the Bichonaranian is known for being a friendly and energetic dog, often with a sweet disposition. These dogs are expert companions, which is exactly what the Bichon Frise was bred to do.
But depending on which parent the dog inherits up more from, Bichonaranians can be either great with all kids or snappy with younger kids. That’s because Pomeranians are not known to appreciate rough play from rowdy kids.
17. Pomeagle
Parents: Beagle x Pomeranian mix

Beagles are one of my all-time favorite dog breeds. So, this Beagle Pomeranian hybrid is one I would love to meet (or possibly own) one day. That said, the result of the Pomeagle is just as amazing as you would expect it to be.
Pomeagles have the typical easygoing personalities that you’d expect in a Pom mix. This dog is super loyal and friendly, but also a natural at making friends. However, they can often get into trouble as they tend to inherit the amazing noses and inquisitive nature of the Beagle.
They’ll adapt well into any living situation, whether on a farm or in a city apartment. However, obedience training will be tough as the Beagle’s stubbornness comes through. And if you plan to keep one outside, make sure the yard is secured!

18. Weeranian
Parents: Westie x Pomeranian mix

Weeranians may be one of the most pleasant Pom mixes we have. This designer dog crosses the West Highland White Terrier (Westie) with the Pomeranian to produce a little fur-bundle of joy. And while they are part terriers, they can be a lot more mild.
Pomeranians are heavy shedding machines while Westies are some of the most hypoallergenic breeds you can find. So shedding can vary greatly with this hybrid, depending on which parent your dog inherits more from.
Truly a petite hybrid, Weeranians are no more than 12 inches tall and weight roughly 15 pounds. Still, they’re as lovable as any other dog, and they wouldn’t love to curl up around your lap. They will be sweet and loyal, making them a wonderful addition to any family.
19. Brusselranian
Parents: Brussels Griffon x Pomeranian mix

The Brusselranian is the crossbreed of two breathtaking toy dogs: the Pomeranian and the Brussels Griffon. Both parent breeds have very distinct physical features, which make this mix that much more interesting.
Brussels Griffons have adorable monkey-like faces, which is often seen in the Brusselranian. However, this mix tends to inherit the fluffiness and body type of the Pomeranian. Just think of them as adorable monkey dogs!
Like both parents, the Brusselranian was bred for excellent companionship and you shouldn’t expect anything less with the hybrid. They’re loving, caring, bright and surprisingly easy to train. But don’t be too hard on them, as they can be sensitive dogs.
20. Pom Coton
Parents: Coton de Tulear x Pomeranian mix

New to the designer dog world, Pom Cotons are becoming increasingly popular Pom mixes and it’s easy to see why. Few dogs are as inherently kind and sweet as the Pom Coton. They’re just that friendly of a dog with a special ability to make friends.
With high intelligence and a willingness to please, these hybrids are excellent choices for even new owners. They’ll get through obedience training in a breeze. In fact, that’s probably a huge reason why they’ve become so popular in America.
However, it’s not all good. The Pom Cotons will be extremely vocal. If you can’t stand the barking, you may want to look elsewhere. On the other hand, they’re great companions and love nothing more than to cuddle up and lounge around.
21. Pom Shi
Parents: Shiba x Pomeranian mix

Who would have guessed that the Shiba Inu-Pomeranian mix was a thing? But if you think about it, both parent breeds are popular companions from different sides of the world. So while unusual, the Pom Shi is a complete no-brainer.
The parent breeds of the Pom Shi couldn’t be more different. On one hand, the Shiba is a highly-skilled hunting dog with a feisty and independent nature. Pomeranians, though, are positive and affectionate dogs that love human attention.
The cross will be somewhere in between, resulting in a nice and stable balance of the two parents. That said, Pom Shis can double as watchdogs and companions. And while the Shiba side may provide a hint of stubbornness, it won’t be too bad.

22. Cava Pom
Parents: Cavalier King Charles x Pom mix

Cava Poms are ideal companion dogs that combine the friendliness of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with the Pomeranian’s liveliness. Not only do these dogs have attractive personalities, but they are also downright gorgeous.
They’re still fairly new in the designer dog scene, but we know they have distinct features depending on the favoring of the parent genes. Most will have the Pomeranian’s coat, but also have the King Charles’ head shape. It really depends.
In the home, Cava Poms thrive off human interaction. And because they’re such patient dogs, they’ll do well with older kids. Cava Poms are some of the most loving hybrids, but they demand a lot of love and attention. However with a face like that, it’ll be hard not to.
23. Pom Silk
Parents: Silky Terrier x Pomeranian mix

The Pom Silk, a hybrid of the Silky Terrier and Pomeranian, is a fun-loving dog with a spunky attitude. But when the situation calls for it, they’ll show their affectionate side. Bred to be a true lap dog, the Pom Silk will stick by your side like a good “velcro dog.”
One of the most unique physical qualities of the Silky Terrier is the smooth, hypoallergenic coat. But with the Pomeranian’s genes, they’ll likely end up with a long and soft fluffy coat that can vary when it comes to shedding.
These little dogs need a lot of consistency and firmness in their training. Yes, they’re small, but they do have big personalities and may attempt at establish themselves at the “alpha dog.” Otherwise, they’re an excellent addition to any family.
24. Toy Pom Terrier
Parents: Toy Fox Terrier x Pomeranian mix

The Toy Pom Terrier is the ultimate mixed toy dog breed. While they may look like cute plush toys, they certainly don’t act like it. Pom Terriers have big and bright personalities that’ll win over your heart in a single afternoon.
Like with the Chihuahua, the Pom Terrier “suffers” from small dog syndrome. In other words, they try to compensate for their small size with a somewhat fearless approach to life. So if you have strangers on their property, they’ll make sure to stand their ground.
If you can put up with their barking, the Pom Terrier will be a happy and cheerful little dog. They’ll fully embrace any member of their pack, whether another dog, child or senior. Pom Terriers are the perfect fit for nearly any household!
